The Rainy River Basin Water Resources Center, housed at Rainy River Community College, was originally conceived during the process that led to the development of the Rainy River Basin Plan.

The Water Resources Center (WRC) has four main goals:

a)  Serve as a data warehouse and distribution center for information relevant to basin water management,

b)  Initiate and coordinate educational programs and activities related to water quality in the Rainy River Basin,

c)  Provide a facility for water research within the basin, and

d)  Foster communication among all interested individuals, agencies and organizations throughout the international basin.

A work group has been formed and is now in the planning process to establish and sustain the Water Resources Center.
